Night Guards are not to be confused with athletic mouth guards, which are soft appliances designed to cushion and protect teeth from athletic trauma. Proper Night Guards are rigid appliances that can simply protect your existing teeth and restorations from the destructive effects of bruxism as a simple night guard does, or actually treat the root cause of many TMJ issues utilizing an orthotic-type TMJ appliance. The later is the primary appliance we fabricate for our patients.
With regular use of these appliances, TMJ sufferers usually experience a significant reduction of their symptoms.
